Schools and departments can set a maximum number of recognized hours of an activity that can be counted toward the course requirement. That is, if Schools and departments decide that only 2 hours of a particular activity will be counted toward the course requirement, the system can be configured that only 2 hours of attendance will be recognized.
If an event is setup for a particular group of students, students from outside the group cannot enroll in the event on their own. The system administrator of the event offering unit can override the system restriction on target student groups and enroll outside-group students on an event which is restricted to the particular group. Alternatively, the student may try walk-in and attend the event without prior enrollment. In the latter case, and if auto email reminder is setup, the student will not receive an email reminder for the event.
Waiting List functionality is NOT available in the PDC system.
In the Event Schedule Enquiry screen students can view all events inputted in the PDC system. On the other hand, in the Event Enrollment screen, students can only see events:
Technically yes. The PDC system will not check time conflicts among events a student enrolled and bar students from taking events scheduled at the same date/time. Students should look up the Event Schedule Enquiry before enrolling for a PDC event.
Admin users can see the event enrollments of individual students at Student Progress Enquiry by Student screen. Please refer to the admin user guide for details.
The system will keep a record of all events a student attended during the entire stay period the student is enrolled with HKUST, using the same student ID. Changing one’s program of study does not affect the attendance record.
The system is designed to handle data for RPg students only. Attendance records of UG and TPg students will automatically be filtered out by the system during attendance uploading. That being the case, users need not remove non-RPg entries prior to uploading. After the uploading process, a log will be displayed to alert users of entries not being uploaded.
Attendance record of individual students can be modified using "Event Participant Maintenance" by checking the box under the column "Attended". Please note that "no show" could be recorded by keeping the event enrollment record while leaving the "Attended" box unchecked.
Yes. Attendance records can be updated by using "Event Participant Maintenance" by checking the box under the column "Attended". For students who haven’t enrolled in the event using PDC system, service units will need to input the student ID and check the box "Attended". For those who have enrolled in the event using PDC system, service units will just need to check the box "Attended".
A student’s attempt will be recognized under Professional Conduct in the PDC system upon completion of the module group of his/her Department/Division, with a passing score of 80% or above.
An Activity is like a topic, while an Event is like a session of the topic.
E.g. Effective Teaching Skills is an Activity whose offering unit might conduct 3 sessions (one for SSCI, one for SENG and one for all other Schools/Office). The 3 sessions are known as Events in the PDC system.
Additions and changes to Themes and Course Requirements require prior approval of CPS, whereas new Activities can be added on need bases, and CPS approval is not required. All these function reside with the super admin of PDC.
Students can access the PDC system via the Student Intranet.
Admin users can access the PDC system via the Administrative Intranet for Staff.
RPg students will be able to login to the PDC system once their ITSC accounts have been activated. The Course Requirement Enquiry and Event Schedule Enquiry functions are available even before students enroll in PDEV 6770 course. Progress Enquiry will only be available after course enrollment.
