Students have to fulfill the coursework requirement as specified by each program. Check out the details in the Postgraduate Program Catalog and start making plans for your study.

Assessments and Assignments

  • Your study progress is normally assessed by:
    • continuous assessments;
    • group and/or individual project assignments; and
    • examinations.

Projects/Independent Study

Studying at master’s level often involves the undertaking of a project/independent study in a specialized subject area under supervision of a faculty.

Field Trips and Exchange

Field trips and/or exchange programs are offered by some programs as part of the program requirements or optional learning experience.

Center for Language Education 

To better equip students with adequate English for successful completion of their studies, the Center for Language Education offers you various kinds of English learning resources and services.  In addition to English language support, other language courses are also offered.


As the heart of HKUST's intellectual enterprise, the Library supports your learning and research needs through its great online and print collections and strong service ethic.

Career Advisement and Internship 

The gap between your study at HKUST and future world of work can be quite immense.  Getting work experience, including curriculum-related internships, while you study will help you to gain the skills employers are looking for.  The Career Center is here to provide you with resources, services and assistance along the way to help make your transition a smoother one.

Campus life is an important part of university education.  There are a wide variety of activities that you can join to pursue your interests and broaden your horizons other than studying.  HKUST also provides sports and recreation facilities for the enhancement and promotion of your total well-being.
