Research Output Reporting
Research Output System (ROS) is a system for collecting data of different types of research outputs produced by the HKUST community, which include faculty members, researchers, staff and students. The following types of research outputs should all be reported to the system:
  • Publications
  • Awards and prizes
  • Presentations and talks
  • Other research outputs (as specified by the University Grant Council (UGC))
ROS is available throughout the year. Students should input/update their own research output records through ROS when:
  • New publications are accepted/published
  • Previously accepted publications are published (this update is important since only published items will be reported to the UGC)
  • New awards and prizes are accorded
  • New presentations and talks are delivered
  • Discrepancies are found in the records
To manage the research outputs, select an option from the menu bar located at the top of the front page. Please pay special attention to the following when reporting research outputs:
  • Click on the "i" icon to read the definition when uncertain what to input for a field
  • Enter as many details as possible that are available at the time of reporting
  • For Publications, students should report the following categories in ROS
    • Journal article (both published and accepted but not yet published)
    • Conference paper
    • Book/Book chapter
    • Other publications such as working paper should be reported in the “Others” category, under which an appropriate sub-category can be specified
  • Award and Prizes, Presentations and Talks should be reported in the corresponding modules of ROS
  • Other research outputs should be reported in “Others” category of Publications, under which an appropriate sub-category can be specified
Students can access ROS via http://ros.ust.hk.

To get more details on using ROS, please refer to the ROS User Guide. Enquiries or suggestions on ROS can be sent to ros@ust.hk.

Notes:
  1. ROS is available except during the daily maintenance period from 3:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. (HK time).
  2. Data collected from ROS will be processed and reported to the University Grants Committee (UGC) for its annual data collection from the UGC-funded universities.
  3. Publication data collected from ROS will also be provided to the HKUST Library for updating its Scholarly Publication Database as appropriate.
Access ROS as a departmental administrator, please click here.
